ARTICLE I: Name
Educational Technology Student Association
ARTICLE II: Purpose
The purpose of this association is to advance the professional growth and academic development of students who are interested in educational technology, to foster innovation, leadership, pedagogy and technology in learning, and to provide and organize educational and social activities.
ARTICLE III: Membership
Section 1: Membership eligibility: Membership in the ETSA is limited to any student, undergraduate or graduate, who is interested in Educational Technology.
Section 2: Non-discrimination Policy. The ETSA shall not discriminate against any individuals by refusing membership based upon age, race, color, sex, religion, national origin, physical or mental disability, or sexual orientation.
Section 3: Membership Responsibilities: Members of the ETSA shall attend at least half of the scheduled activities each semester and register at the beginning of each academic year to maintain membership in the association.
Section 4: Resignation. Officers shall be asked to resign if it is decided by a two-thirds majority vote of members that the officer in question is not fulfilling the duties of his/her position.
Section 5: Visitors. Visitors are welcome to attend meetings of the ETSA.
ARTICLE IV: Officers/Advisor
Section 1: Elected Officers. Elected Officers of the ETSA shall be the President, Vice President, Treasurer, secretary, and Webmaster. A quorum of half of the membership must be present to conduct elections. Officers shall be elected according to a two-thirds majority vote of members present at the last meeting of each academic year. The term for all officers shall be one academic school year, beginning in the fall.
Elected officers must be members of the ETSA at the time of their election. Officers must be enrolled in an Educational Technology academia or license program. At least one officer must be an undergraduate student and at least one officer must be a graduate student.
Section 2. Officer Duties.
a. The President shall be responsible for the overall operation of the ETSA.
The President shall conduct all meetings. The President shall make sure that the officers of the association are performing the duties of their office. The President shall serve as a liaison between the ETSA and Ball State University. The President shall meet regularly with the ETSA faculty advisor.
b. The Vice President (also Treasure) shall conduct meetings in the absence of the President. He/She shall replace the President in the event that he/she vacates his/her position. He/She shall assist the President, at his/her request, with the planning of the activities of the ETSA. He/She shall be responsible for the general supervision of the finances for the ETSA. He/She shall apply for funds. He/She shall keep up-to-date financial records. He/She shall assist in the preparation of the annual budget.
c. The secretary shall handle all correspondence for the ETSA, and maintain up-to-date records of the membership of the ETSA. He/She shall prepare the agendas for the meetings, and be responsible for recording and distributing minutes of the ETSA. The secretary shall also maintain ETSA Bulletin Boards in designated areas.
d. The Webmaster shall be responsible for maintaining and updating the official website of the ETSA and sending the ETSA newsletters.
Section 3. Faculty Advisor: The faculty advisor shall inform officers and members on topics, rules, and regulations about the association. His/Her duties also include clarifications of issues and educational contributions for the association. The Faculty Advisor is the liaison to the Office of Student Organizations and Activities.
Article V: Executive Committee
The four officers, as well as the Faculty Advisor, shall comprise the Executive Committee.
Mission Statement: The ETSA Executive Committee’s mission is to facilitate the members to enhance and to improve their academic knowledge in Educational Technology.
Article VI: Meetings
Officer meetings will be conducted monthly or more frequently as deemed necessary.
The regular meeting time of the Educational Technology Students Association shall be at least once every month. A minimum of two officers must be present at all meetings.
Article VII: Parliamentary Authority
The rules contained in the current edition of Robert’s Rules of Order shall govern The Educational Technology Students Association in all cases to which they are applicable and in which they are not inconsistent with this constitution.
Article VIII: Amendments
For meetings in which the organization will amend the constitution, a quorum of three-fourths of the group’s membership must be in attendance in order to conduct a vote. By a two-thirds vote of members present, the constitution shall be amended.
The proposed amendment must be announced at the meeting preceding the voting meeting. Amendments added to the constitution shall include the date of the addition in parenthesis in the constitution. The constitution shall include the date it was last revised.
